The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has warned that any court ruling affecting the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) timetable could trigger a wave of defections from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking during a media briefing on Wednesday, party officials claimed that growing uncertainty within the APC has left many members considering alternative political platforms ahead of the next electoral cycle. According to the ADC, a court decision capable of altering or delaying INEC’s electoral timetable may deepen tensions within the ruling party and encourage more politicians to leave.

The opposition party argued that several APC members are already dissatisfied with internal party arrangements, leadership disputes, and concerns over transparency in the selection of candidates. ADC leaders insisted that political instability surrounding the electoral process would only intensify existing cracks within the APC.

The party also urged INEC and the judiciary to remain neutral and protect the credibility of Nigeria’s democratic process. ADC maintained that Nigerians are closely watching developments surrounding the elections and expect institutions to act independently without political interference.

Political observers say discussions around party defections have increased in recent months as politicians continue consultations ahead of future elections. While the APC has repeatedly dismissed claims of internal crisis, opposition parties believe dissatisfaction within the ruling party could reshape political alliances in the coming months.

The ADC reaffirmed its readiness to welcome new members and called on Nigerians to support what it described as a movement for accountable leadership and electoral fairness.
