While rejecting the appeals submitted on Thursday by Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, the Supreme Court upheld President Bola Tinubu’s victory.
The court ruled that Tinubu was legitimately elected to the presidency on February 25. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar sought an appeal, but the Supreme Court ruled in his favor that it was without substance.
Justice Inyang Okoro declared, “In my opinion, there is no merit in the appeal and it is hereby dismissed.” This was after resolving all the points against the appellant.
This affirms the September 6, 2023, ruling of the lower court validating the election of the second respondent as the legitimate president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In an attempt to overturn the presidential election petition tribunal’s ruling, which upheld Tinubu’s election.
